Deleting a Game
Deleting a game removes it and all of its content permanently. This article explains what happens, what doesn’t, and when you actually need to delete something.
How to Delete
Section titled “How to Delete”From the Game Hub for that format, find the game and click the delete control on its card.
You can also delete from the My Games list on your dashboard.
Deletion Is Permanent
Section titled “Deletion Is Permanent”There is no trash, no archive, and no undo. Once a game is deleted:
- The game and all its questions, categories, phrases, or word pool are gone
- Any teams associated with it are gone
- It cannot be recovered by support
If you’re not certain, don’t delete. See the alternatives below.
What Deletion Frees Up
Section titled “What Deletion Frees Up”For Free accounts: deleting a game frees one of your three slots. If you’re at the limit and want to build something new, deleting is how you make room.
For Pro accounts: there’s no limit, so deletion is purely housekeeping.
Alternatives to Deleting
Section titled “Alternatives to Deleting”Most of the time you don’t actually want deletion.
If you want to stop using a game but keep it: mark it inactive instead. See Active vs Inactive Games. It stays in your hub but is visually distinguished from what you’re currently running.
If you want to change a game: edit it. See Editing Game Details. Nothing about a game is locked once created.
If you want a variant of a game: create a new one. Deleting the original to make room is only necessary on a Free account at the three-game limit.
Deleting to Make Room on a Free Account
Section titled “Deleting to Make Room on a Free Account”If you’re at three games and want to build a fourth, you have two options:
Delete one. Fastest, but permanent. Best for test games or games you built while learning the platform.
Upgrade to Pro. Removes the limit entirely and keeps everything you’ve built.
If your three games are ones you actually use, upgrading is usually the better answer — rebuilding a game costs more time than the subscription.
What Happens to Games When You Downgrade
Section titled “What Happens to Games When You Downgrade”Downgrading from Pro to Free does not delete anything.
You retain access to three Categories games. Games beyond that, and games in other formats, become inaccessible — but they are not deleted. If you upgrade again later, they become available again exactly as they were.
This is an important distinction: inaccessible is not deleted. Don’t delete games before downgrading in an attempt to “clean up” — you’d be destroying content you could otherwise get back.
Before You Delete
Section titled “Before You Delete”A quick checklist:
- Is this game reusable with another class or next term?
- Did the content take significant time to build?
- Would a CSV export exist elsewhere if you needed to rebuild it? (There is no export — content lives only in the platform.)
- Are you deleting to make room, and would upgrading solve it better?
