Step 9 — Install Claude Code on the Server

Claude Code needs Node.js:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y nodejs npm

Then install Claude Code. Check the current command at docs.claude.com, since installers change, but the standard path is:

sudo npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code

Confirm it landed:

claude --version

Your server is now built. Everything from here happens in your editor.
