The Soul Diagnostic
About five minutes, plus two more for baseline facts.
Once setup finishes, Claude Code asks seven questions about how you want to be communicated with.
What it asks
Section titled “What it asks”How you want hard truths delivered. What actually helps when you are stuck. What your best advisor was like. What AI tools consistently get wrong about you. How you make decisions. Whether the system should connect business decisions to personal impact. Any non-negotiables.
Answer properly
Section titled “Answer properly”There is no wrong answer, and the more you give, the better the calibration. This is not a formality — it produces soul.md, the file that shapes every response the system gives you from this point on.
A thin answer here gets you a generic assistant. A real one gets you something that argues with you the way you want to be argued with.

Then it reads it back
Section titled “Then it reads it back”The system builds your personality profile and presents it. Read it. If it fits, approve it. If something is off, say so and it adjusts.
Baseline questions
Section titled “Baseline questions”Then five quick facts: your name, what you do, how long you have been doing it, your team structure, and your revenue picture. Answer conversationally.
Changing it later
Section titled “Changing it later”You are not locked in. Tell the system “I want to update my soul.md” at any point. It also refines on its own over time by observing how you actually communicate.
