Game Not Loading

A page that won’t load is almost always one of four things: connection, cache, browser settings, or an extension. Work through them in that order.

Refresh the page. Genuinely — a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R) fixes a surprising share of loading problems by bypassing cached files.

Check your connection. Load any other website. If nothing loads, it’s the connection, not the platform.

Check for a captive portal. On guest wifi, you may need to accept terms on a login page before traffic passes. Open any website to trigger it. See Internet Connection.

A stale cached file can leave a page half-loading or blank.

Chrome/Edge: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cached images and files Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data Safari: Settings → Advanced → Show Develop menu → Develop → Empty Caches

Clear cache only — clearing cookies as well will log you out.

Open a private/incognito window and load the page there. This disables most extensions and ignores cache.

If it works in private mode, the cause is an extension or your cache. Re-enable extensions one at a time to find the culprit — ad blockers, privacy tools, and script blockers are the usual suspects.

If it fails in private mode too, the cause is elsewhere.

JavaScript and cookies must both be enabled. Both are on by default; if you’ve hardened your browser, check them. See Browser Compatibility.

If Chrome fails, try Firefox. This separates “something wrong with this browser’s configuration” from “something wrong more broadly” in about thirty seconds.

Loading the same page on your phone tells you whether the problem is your computer or your account.

The display screen won’t open. It opens in a new tab, so check for a blocked pop-up — usually an icon in the address bar. Allow pop-ups for the site.

A game loads but shows no content. The content may not have been saved. Open the editor and confirm items are there. Importing a CSV without clicking Save is the usual cause. See CSV Import Guide.

Everything loads but the display doesn’t update. That’s a sync problem, not a loading problem. See Sync Issues.

If a page fails while you’re teaching:

  1. Refresh — it’s fast and usually works
  2. Reopen the display from the control screen
  3. Failing that, open the display on a different device

You won’t lose the game. State lives with the game, not the screen.
